The Scandic Grand Marina Hotel is a modern 8-storey property housed in a converted early 20th century customs house with an attractive brick façade. The spacious lobby is impressively appointed, with a cool marble floor, discreet lighting and lots of potted plants. There is a seating area and a gift shop immediately to the left of the entrance. The 462 guestrooms feature contemporary Scandinavian decor and furnishings, with a number of nautical touches. Although they vary in size, all are fairly spacious and maintained in very good condition. The hotel’s Makasiini Restaurant is characterised by its delightful early 20th-century milieu and the magnificent view of the harbour with its giant ferries. The Scandinavian menu makes excellent use of the very best seasonal produce and wines for lunch and dinner. Alternatively, the Makasiini lobby bar is a popular place for meeting friends or just watching the world go by over a special coffee, a glass of good wine, a cocktail or a beer. Guests can also enjoy the sunny terrace during the summer months.
