The Seurahuone Hotel is housed in a 5-storey Art Nouveau townhouse, which dates from 1914. Inside, an aura of slightly worn Jugendstil elegance pervades all the public areas, from the grand main stairway and the chandeliered art nouveau café to the ornate pub, topped by a lavish glass dome. About half the 118 medium sized rooms are outfitted in a warm, earth-toned contemporary style, while the other half are more consciously old-fashioned, with brass beds and higher ceilings. Being located in the commercial heart of town, the hotel hosts the meetings of many public organisations, so the public areas are often quite busy.
